Through the ages

In the land of Thiérache, the legacy of religious history takes a singular turn and proves to be a source of theatrical settings. As a border territory, Thiérache has been particularly exposed to conflicts throughout the centuries. Its churches still bear the scars of these troubled times. Between Guise and Watigny, around sixty fortified churches are scattered across the land.

A valuable heritage that has been able to reinvent itself, as shown by the example of the Art Déco style church of Sainte-Thérèse de l’Enfant-Jésus in Hirson, rehabilitated by the pianist Kit Armstrong, who turned it into a recital hall, where he invited many artists.
